October is the month of falling leaves, beautiful nature…and Halloween! In Wales, Halloween is also known as Nos Calan Gaeaf – the night before ‘the first of winter’.
I am busy writing an article on the old traditions and customs of Wales surrounding Nos Calan Gaeaf. Some are unique to Wales! Many have been lost unfortunately, but live on in the wonderful folklore accounts which have been left behind.
At the time of writing, I am also busy preparing for a Halloween evening of storytelling and folklore. It will all be social distanced, outside and Covid-safe. Fingers crossed that we can still go ahead as the month draws to a close. Details will be posted on Twitter for those who are local to Swansea and the Gower.
